Spiral Galaxy / Spider Lashes, 2024
This work is based on recent imagery from the NASA Webb telescope documenting spiral galaxy NGC 1566.
The sculpture is made of reclaimed wood, sliced and reconfigured into 28 separate arms, each suspended independently from a grid above. The form is cumulative and grows with the addition of each piece.

In the assembly of the parts to make the whole, you are in contact with each piece and the space it should or could occupy. Each arm is unique, each position a choice leading to a final arrangement with its own gravity and dynamic. No two would be the same.
