Splinterscections was a site specific work created for outdoor installation. The project focus was to create a sculpture that responded to the environment by being folded and formed using available trees as opportunities to anchor the work. Each tie off influenced the form folding and twisting it in space and capturing light as it penetrated the canopy. As the trees swayed in the wind, the sculpture would flex and move, casting reflections and shadows in the surrounding space.

Each form was created using a flexible rubber membrane as a substrate, then applying mirror to the surface in predetermined shapes that allowed for hinge points on the surface. The result was a group of unique shape that interact with the surrounding space when tied, stretched and joined between trees.
